CFA Society Nigeria commemorated its 10th anniversary with an initiative aimed at fostering financial education and inclusion across Nigeria.
As part of its commitment to making finance a force for good, the society launched its inaugural radio show, " Money Talks with CFA Society Nigeria ," in January 2023.
Recent data from the Central Bank of Nigeria shows that the majority of Nigerians do not have access to financial services and financial literacy. “Money Talks with CFA Society Nigeria” aims to close this gap by educating individuals, small businesses, and marginalized communities about basic concepts of finance and investments, empowering them to make sound financial decisions—education that in turn benefits families, communities, and society at large.
The show is produced on a weekly basis by the Educated Investors Group of CFA Society Nigeria’s Advocacy Committee, supported by the Executive Office. The group selects financial literacy topics relevant to the average investor and sources subject-matter experts who can explain complex topics in an accessible way.
The show features CFA Society Nigeria members, which in turn promotes member value by highlighting the expertise within the society’s more than 400 members. It also promotes a spirit of volunteerism, as many members are eager to share their expertise, knowledge, and time to advance financial literacy in the community.
Professionals from diverse fields also take part in discussions on taxation, stock trading, insurance, and more, facilitating collaboration with other professional bodies.
The program has attracted sponsorship from regulators, specifically the Central Bank of Nigeria, as the program aligns directly with mandate of securing 94% financial inclusion amongst Nigerians by 2024.
Through this show, CFA Society Nigeria amplifies its impact, strengthens brand awareness, and promotes the values of CFA Institute.
Ibukun Oyedeji, CFA, President of CFA Society Nigeria said: "As we celebrate the 10th year anniversary of CFA Society Nigeria, we are proud to reflect on the successes of our advocacy initiatives and most recently, the financial literacy radio show Money Talks. By reaching a wide audience and addressing important financial topics, the program has played a significant role in improving financial literacy and empowering individuals to make sound financial decisions. We look forward to continuing this journey and making a lasting impact on the financial well-being of Nigerians for years to come."
