CFA Institute will mark its 75th Anniversary on 11 June, the day in 1947 that our four founding societies from Boston, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia joined together in realizing their shared commitment to bringing higher standards to the investment profession. 

The National Federation of Financial Analysts Societies—the forerunner to CFA Institute—was formed, scaling the development of an early investment profession, and placing education and professionalism at its core. Investment analysis became a credentialed profession in 1963, when 284 candidates sat the inaugural CFA Program exam.

Since its founding, CFA Institute has continued to innovate and advance the industry in pursuit of our mission: to lead the investment professional globally by promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society. We are excited not only to look back at what we have accomplished but also to think about how we will continue to shape the industry for the next 75 years and beyond.

Here are some of the activities we have planned as we celebrate this milestone:

• CFA Institute will host social events at our various office locations for employees to commemorate the occasion.
• As a gift to all employees, and in keeping with our commitment to sustainability, CFA Institute will sponsor the planting of 75 trees in the Americas, EMEA, and APAC.
• Marg Franklin, CFA, will record a video address to be shared through our social media channels.
• We will highlight the anniversary on the home page of our enterprise site and update the content on the Mission and Vision page to reflect important milestones in our history.
• A special series of social posts commemorating the occasion will run on our social media channels.
• We will post a press release to the Press Room page of our enterprise site.
