The African Capital Markets brief examines the challenges and opportunities for investors in local capital markets in Africa. The research aims to set out the economic and investment landscape in more than 10 different markets in Africa, and will provide a tool to stimulate and engage investment industry stakeholders including CFA Institute members and societies, firms, universities, regulators, exchanges, trade associations, and other capital market stakeholders in Africa.
The research has been developed in conjunction with the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) and builds on the Memorandum of Understanding between CFA Institute and ASEA. CFA Institute has partnered with CFA Societies in South Africa, Nigeria, Mauritius, Ghana, and East Africa, as well as our emerging pre-society in Zimbabwe, to identify authors, presenting a compendium of articles by local contributors on their respective markets.

In addition, ASEA has collaborated with local authors in Morocco, Egypt, Botswana, and East Africa to contribute towards the brief. In this way, it reflects our desire to partner with strong local entities in Africa in addition to building true partnerships with our local societies in the spirit of Societies 2.0.
Globally-relevant and locally-informed, this Research Foundation brief will provide authoritative insights and analysis for any current or prospective investor in African capital markets.
