CFA Montréal has won the 2020 Outstanding Research Award for its impactful initiatives that have leveraged research content and raised awareness locally.
The local society aspires to be recognized as a thought leader in its community and shares CFA Institute research and curated content with its members through coordinated communication campaigns.
By showcasing research at events and on social media, CFA Montréal has ensured a superior level of visibility over the past year. Members now look to the local society as a resource for meaningful industry content. The society is focused on continuing to engage this member base and support them in their professional development.
To communicate content in a timely manner, CFA Montréal recently created the Content Committee, which monitors trends and feeds relevant CFA Institute research to its members.
CFA Montréal has also engaged a communications firm to strengthen the impact of its social media presence and professionally manage its social media platforms (LinkedIn and Facebook). This has enabled the local society to better deliver research on social media. CFA Montréal closely follows tracking data and refines its strategy to improve its content delivery.
The local society has also benefited from its Honorary President, Sophie Palmer, CFA, having volunteered on the CFA Institute Research Foundation board for the last two years. This has given CFA Montréal a strong connection with the Research Foundation and a particular interest in its outputs.
Some of the key initiatives CFA Montréal has launched include:
- Sharing a wide variety of publications at its flagship events, including the Annual Forecast dinner, which had around 700 attendees, and Annual Member Cocktail, which had around 200 attendees.
- Providing hundreds of copies of the latest briefs and reports on relevant subjects to attendees at events on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing, Fintech, and Women in Investment Management (reaching both members and non-members).
- Organising a book launch in recognition of Jacques Lussier’s latest collaboration with the CFA Institute Research Foundation. Jacques Lussier, CFA, is the Past President of CFA Montréal and renowned for producing high quality research. The launch included over 100 key stakeholders from across the local financial industry and was strengthened by a social media campaign.
- Widely sharing Future of Finance publications through social media initiatives, as well as in the news and careers sections of the CFA Montréal website.
- Providing content to the local academic community, including presenting research findings through its university and candidate outreach programs.
Carl Robert, CFA, President, CFA Montréal, said: “CFA Montréal is proud to bring world-class content to its members and local investment community. By actively promoting the high-quality research produced through the CFA Institute network, we have become the go-to resource for local investment industry practitioners. We are delighted to have won this award, which recognises a huge team effort at the local society.”
