As the world pivoted last month to a surreal new normal, CFA exam candidates found themselves facing their own surreal reality of exam postponement.
In a collective effort between CFA Societies Texas and the four local societies – CFA Society Austin, CFA Society Dallas-Fort Worth, CFA Society Houston and CFA Society San Antonio – board leaders worked quickly to extend messages of support and encouragement to exam candidates.
Julie Toler, CFA, chair of the CFA Societies Texas board of directors, shared the story of one colleague who had been preparing to challenge Level III of the CFA Program in June: “I happened to be on call with him when the announcement came through from CFA Institute. He took the news in stride of course, but I could hear his disappointment.”
The society leaders recognised that the news may have come as a disappointment and encouraged candidates to continue in their pursuit of the CFA Charter. It also emphasised that the CFA community is behind candidates and cheering them on every step of the way.
The email received positive feedback – many candidates responded with thanks for the support and “virtual fist bump.” The society leaders also received lots of LinkedIn invitations from candidates, forging new connections between societies and candidates while they await their next exam opportunity.
