CFA Society Edmonton recently launched a new initiative, the Candidate Life Cycle (CLC), in collaboration with Wiley.
The CLC is designed for Level I candidates to help guide them through the beginning of their journey in the CFA Program – from the start of their studies to passing the Level I exam.
The kick-off event took place on 16 January 2019 and aimed to introduce the new candidates to CFA Society Edmonton and the benefits of being a CFA Society member. The event also provided practical tips for studying and taking the upcoming June exam. Wendy Pirie, CFA, from CFA Institute provided an institutional overview of the CFA Program and Darren Degraaf, CFA, from Wiley shared several exam preparation and exam day tips. Tiago Lage, CFA, Vice President, CFA Society Edmonton, walked candidates through the whole CLC concept, including the very important timeline of events lined up to support candidates until the June exam.
Candidates enjoyed networking with their peers, learning from the speakers, and having their CFA Program questions answered. With this initiative, the board hopes to bring candidates closer to the Society; not only from a volunteer and committee work perspective, but also to support ongoing succession planning efforts in the Society.
In the months to come, CFA Society Edmonton and Wiley will provide ongoing support to candidates through email communications, mock exams, and a review workshop. A celebratory party will follow the June exam for all those who participated in the program. In the future, CFA Society Edmonton intends to roll out the CLC concept to Level II and Level III candidates as well.
