On 9 December 2020, the CFA® Program successfully attained a “Full Accreditation” by the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA) in Malaysia. The FAA is an independent accreditation body responsible for the quality assurance of learning initiatives in the financial services industry both within Malaysia and globally.
Closely supported by the Government and Regulator Relations team at CFA Institute, the application process began in early 2020. Amid the pandemic, the local society continued to strive for its mission to develop future professionals through relevant and accessible credentialing programs.
The Full Accreditation demonstrates that the design, development, and delivery of the CFA Program complies with the FAA Learning Standards, FAA Quality Framework and the specifications for financial services. This accreditation features the CFA Program as an approved program by FAA, thereby raising the profile of the program in Malaysia, as well as within the wider Islamic Finance Community.
Chong Jin Yoong, CFA, Director, CFA Society Malaysia commented: “This accreditation enables us to sustainably raise the quality of talent in Malaysia and contribute to graduates’ employability. Finance professionals and practitioners will benefit from the knowledge learned in the CFA Program, while organisations will be empowered by a pool of expertise who may be employed across borders and jurisdictions – allowing them to function in a dynamic, global market.”
Together with CFA Institute, CFA Society Malaysia believes that this accreditation furthers its mission to:
- Support market development by nurturing a pool of highly skilled and internationally mobile practitioners that have a professional finance accreditation.
- Enhance the profile of the CFA charter in Malaysia and beyond – especially given Malaysia’s positioning in the wider Asia Pacific Islamic Finance community.
- Increase participation in the CFA Program in Malaysia.
- Widen the visibility and recognition of the CFA Program and increase the competitive edge by providing a clear indicator of its high quality and conformity with industry standards.
- Boost the support of the CFA Program by Corporate Malaysia for their staff development.
