On 14 November, CFA Society Mississippi hosted its inaugural ethics challenge to raise brand awareness among university students and strengthen its relationship with local universities.
The Society used the challenge to advocate for ethical decisions in the workplace and promote the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards among university students in Mississippi.
Initially, the Society was challenged with securing university participation. However, once the event was presented to universities, they were enthusiastic about enrolling and the student teams were committed throughout the challenge.
Paula Nielsen, the event coordinator and Ethics Chair for the CFA Society Mississippi Board, said: “Enthusiasm is contagious! We were enthusiastic about hosting an Ethics Challenge, as we believed this would be a great experience for local university students. It was, therefore, very rewarding to see that universities bought into the idea and were enthusiastic too! By the end of the event, students were asking about the CFA Program and the faculties were interested in talking about having their universities become affiliates, all while stressing the importance of ethics in our industry.”
Due to the success of the challenge and positive response from participating universities and students, the Society is considering running another ethics challenge next year.
