Over the last year, CFA Society Peru has focused its efforts on delivering high-quality initiatives to its members and the wider financial community to contribute to the development of capital markets and promote the highest standards of ethics.
In 2021, the local society organised 12 virtual events, with 42 high profile speakers who shared their opinions on relevant topics in Peru. Investment industry professionals discussed the main global asset classes and their allocation vision, topics related to the promotion of better regulatory standards in the Peruvian market, LIBOR transition, and women in investment management. In addition, leading economists and political experts led an in-depth discussion about the political and economic outlook in Peru.
These events raised the profile of the local society and enabled it to reach a wide audience of members and those interested in financial subjects. CFA Society Peru has also given the local financial and investment community the opportunity to share topics of interest and plans to bring together experts that can discuss these topics at future conferences.
For university students, CFA Society Peru hosted its second annual Ethics Challenge in 2021, with 12 participating universities, and plans to run another challenge this year. In addition, the local society has attracted a record number of teams and universities to its local CFA Institute Research Challenge this year, with 13 local universities having registered 18 competing teams of Peruvian students. The local society has also worked with the CFA Society community to launch a regional Ethics Challenge across Latin America and the Caribbean.
By promoting the 2021 virtual conferences via social media and email, CFA Society Peru gained the active participation of more than 3,000 attendees. These attendees assume the positions of CIO, CEO, portfolio managers, managing directors, traders and analysts from principal companies in the financial and business sectors.
Bruno Ghio, CFA, President at CFA Society Peru, said: “In 2022, we will continue to increase member value and deliver high-quality events to the financial community in Peru. We hope, where possible, to prioritize face-to-face networking and will work with the wider investment community to promote the integrity of capital and financial markets in Peru.”
