Ethical Decision Making Workshops
Because of resource constraints, our Ethical Decision Making Workshops have been paused. As we seek to reimagine this offering, while still accounting for our near-term constraints, we need your input to gauge demand and tailor these offerings appropriately.
One proposal is to offer virtual Ethical Decision Making Workshops to societies and other groups on a case-by-case basis. The Ethical Decision Making Workshop provides a review of the CFA Institute Ethical Decision Making framework as well as an interactive discussion of several case studies. Given that we do not have the resources to agree to every request, we will be prioritizing opportunities with the greatest impact and customers with whom we have longstanding relationships. Further, while we reimagine the future of the Ethics Learning Lab, we are considering the establishment of quarterly ethical decision making webinars, which would be made available to our members.
Ethics Challenge
Ethics Challenge is a case-based challenge, started by societies and supported by societies. More than 20 societies held Ethics Challenges last year in their local markets. We will continue to centralize information on Society Center (Programming & Events > Ethics Education Programming) and in accordance with prior practice, we will make case studies available when needed. The societies themselves will provide the organizational and logistical framework for their events. It is our hope that, with society-to-society support and our assistance, additional societies will host ethics challenges in FY23.
Resources such as the Ethics Challenge Host Guide can be found on Society Center.
Ethics Training Resources for Societies
CFA Institute will offer ethics training resources for societies, starting in the third quarter of FY23 (April–June). This will replace the Train the Trainer program, and it will include a sample video of ethics training, a PowerPoint presentation that will accompany the training, and a document that highlights tips and best practices. This sustainable, on-demand approach will allow societies to continue offering stand-alone ethics training, led by their own society volunteers.
Ethics Learning Lab: Free to Members
We will bring the ethics education programs that are in the Ethics Learning Lab from behind the paywall and make them available as a free service to our members. The Ethics Learning Lab currently contains content and interactive community engagement on Giving Voice to Values, Ethical Decision Making, Professionalism, Transparency & Disclosures, Trading and Analysis, and Interaction with Clients.
