Earlier this month nearly 450 society leaders from 155 countries around the world gathered in London for the 2019 Global Society Leadership Conference. Thank you to all who joined us for what we hope was a rewarding and inspiring three days, and thank you to the society leaders who helped lead sessions by sharing your experiences and expertise with your peers.
From my perspective, the conference was a great success. Leaders seemed highly engaged with the conference content and with each other, and excited about the direction we are heading together. Opportunities to network were really special - I know I speak for all of my colleagues at CFA Institute when I tell you how much we enjoyed talking with and getting to know so many of you over the course of the conference week.
Notably, the new Principles of Partnership and Operating Framework were discussed at the Global SLC Presidents Council meeting, and Society Presidents and the CFA Institute Board of Governors approved the documents. I encourage you to look at these revised foundational documents to learn more about how we will work together under Societies 2.0.
Congratulations, once more, to all of our Society Excellence Awards winners who were recognized at the conference. Read about those CFA Societies that won the Impact and Innovation Award and the Most Outstanding Society Award, and hear from our Volunteers of the Year.
For those of you who were unable to attend, check out the conference highlights, photos, and video interviews with Society Leaders on Connexions.
2019 Global CFA Society® Leadership Conference survey results:
We now turn our attention to business as we approach the end of the member year:
- Calling for all CFA Societies to respond to the 2019 Society Satisfaction Survey! Unique links to the survey are being sent to CFA Societies from 24 May and you will have one month to complete this. This has been shortened and streamlined to capture key satisfaction metrics and assess our progress on Societies 2.0 objectives. Please contact your Society Relations Manager with any questions.
- Submitting your business plans – to receive Operational Funding, CFA Societies must submit a business plan for the upcoming year and a fiscal year-end report for the prior year. The deadline for your FY20 beginning of year reporting is 30 June 2019. CFA Societies will be asked to submit FY19 year-end reporting from July. Your Society Relations Manager will be in contact shortly with instructions.
Over the course of the summer, we will be building the next phase of the Societies 2.0 Roadmap and preparing for the fall Regional Society Leadership Conferences. Continue to look for progress on these fronts in my monthly updates.
