Following its success last year, CFA Institute launched the Young Women In Investment 2019 initiative in India, on 25 January 2019.
With a refreshed campaign and programme website, CFA Institute is inviting young women across India to apply for a four-week boot camp, followed by a three-to-six month internship with leading financial institutions in India. This year, the programme will be run in two Indian cities – Bengaluru and Mumbai – and the number of internships offered has doubled from 50 to 100. The programme will be promoted on social media, primarily Facebook, and integrated with the global “Let’s Measure Up” campaign. Promotion is scheduled to run until 31 March 2019 or until 100 applications are filled for the boot camp and subsequent internship.
On 30 January 2019, CFA Institute hosted a successful reunion of the ‘Young Women In Investment’ 2018 class, where 44 of the 49 students took part in sessions on ‘Harassment in the Workplace’, ‘Best Practices in Building a Network’ and ‘Professional Presence’. In addition, a moderated panel discussion on “Being a Young Woman in Business” included Heather Brilliant, CFA, and Diane Nordin, CFA, chair and vice chair respectively of the CFA Institute Board of Governors. Certificates of completion were handed out during an awards ceremony led by Paul Smith, CFA, president and CEO, CFA Institute, followed by a reception. The young women shared strong personal stories of how the programme has changed their lives forever, and at this time 24 have found permanent roles with their internship firm.
