In 2017, CFA Society Spain launched a certificate for local investment professionals: the Certified Advisor-CAd.
“Investment advice is at the core of the CFA charter and we developed a local certificate to give Spanish members the ability to perform advisory work to clients in Spain and to ensure they comply with MiFID II regulations, as required by Spain’s securities market regulator, the CNMV," said Enrique Marazuela, CFA, CAd, president of CFA Society Spain.
The Certified Advisor-CAd has allowed the Society to build a strong relationship with the local regulator, increase brand awareness among employers and headhunters, and boost membership.
On 14 February 2019, the Society hosted its first certificate awards ceremony, with training managers from the main financial institutions in attendance.
"It is a great achievement to have reached the figure of 399 titled Certified Advisor-CAd. It is a very important figure if we think that in Spain the qualification has been in the market since the end of 2017 and we have 800 CFA charterholders,” said Inmaculada Ansoleaga, head of CAD certification, CFA Society Spain. “We are very excited about the first awards ceremony in Madrid with the presence of the new graduates and the HR managers and training managers of the main Spanish financial institutions. The success of the certificate highlights the importance of continuing professional development.”
CFA Society Spain has organized 35 training events for the graduates – in asset management, investment strategies, Fintech, ESG, economics and pensions – to facilitate the 30 hours of continuous professional development (CPD) stipulated by the CNMV. The Society plans to develop new certifications such as an ESG Certificate, AI Certificate and Law for Investment Professionals and Finance for Lawyers to meet the CPD requirements.
