CFA Society Cayman Islands has collaborated with the Cayman Islands Institute of Professional Accountants (CIIPA) in the first-ever Global Corporate Ethics Challenge.
"The Ethics Challenge is a global initiative which has been carried out at the University and Secondary-school levels, but this was a first for corporate teams. We are thrilled to take the CFA Society Cayman Island Ethics Challenge to a new level by introducing the Corporate Challenge. This was an exciting moment for both organizations and the jurisdiction," said Siddhant Jain Jaiswal, CFA, CFA Society Cayman Island Ethics Challenge Co-Ordinator.
The Ethics Challenge embodies the mission of CFA Institute and local societies by promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence. In addition, it focuses on transparency and fairness, regulation and enforcement, and safeguarding systems. CFA Society Cayman Islands believe that the Ethics Challenge will help to transform participants into future leaders, as it focuses on the following developmental goals:
- Helps participants gain ethical decision-making experience.
- Exposes participants to real-world ethical dilemmas.
- Allows participants to work together and share experiences and knowledge in a professional environment.
- Extends participants professional network.
Participants were broken down into teams and received an ethics case study. The teams had just over four weeks to meet, review and analyse the case study and prepare a presentation. They presented their high-quality analysis and recommendations to a panel of judges from CFA Society Cayman Islands, CIIPA and the public sector. "The event was an opportunity to learn from real-world situations and from each other’s experiences - we would like to see this become an annual event.” added Richard Maparura, CFA, CFA Society Cayman Island Education and Members Chair.
The event received media coverage in the Cayman Compass.
