Marty Colburn will join CFA Institute as the new Chief Information Officer on 11 November. He will be based in Charlottesville.
Marty’s strategic, technical, operational, and risk management experience more than exceed the criteria set by the Board and Leadership Team for this role. He has demonstrated, time and again, his expertise in assessing, designing, building and operating large-scale technology platforms in complex environments.
Over his 35-year career, Marty has successfully built, transformed, and led global IT organizations including at Marriott Corporation, FINRA, and Fannie Mae. As a Managing Partner of Cloud Partners for the past six years, Marty developed cloud computing, security, and big data strategies and solutions for large enterprises such as American Express, Raytheon and Xerox. In his most recent role, Marty simultaneously served as CTO/CIO at the National Democratic Institute, reshaping the organization’s information technology portfolio to align with their mission and goals across 60 countries. His strategic roadmap proved a major turnaround for NDI’s technology development and operations, with innovations around cloud computing, agile application development, mobility, and information security. In all these roles, Marty successfully formed and guided highly efficient, collaborative, and global teams.
Marty has a global mindset and leadership approach, and values focus, clear direction, transparent communication, collaboration, and business alignment.
He will lead our IT organization to deliver on many complex and ambitious initiative and we look forward to the expertise and new perspectives he will bring to our Leadership Team.
