Introduced this year, the “Impact and Innovation” category of the Society Awards Program recognises CFA Societies executing high impact and highly innovative initiatives that have strong potential for widespread society interest and further development. The Society Awards Program recognises those CFA Societies with the most exceptional across-the-board performance.
At the Global SLC in London, three regional award winners were announced:
CFA Society New York: Society Collaboration Initiative
The Society Collaboration Initiative aims to distribute CFA Society New York content to society members around the globe and enhance relationships between Societies. The Society creates web pages with video content (live and recorded) and at the end of each month, sends an email to all Societies to let them know what is new on the pages. Currently 31 Societies have signed up to this. The initiative also invites Societies to co-host an Asset Owner Series event. Co-hosts so far have included CFA Society France, CFA Society Emirates and CFA Society Philadelphia. The initiative helps to bring Societies together and underlines the commonality in member needs.
CFA Society Singapore: Media Partnership
CFA Society Singapore has secured a weekly editorial column in Business Times, the leading financial daily in Southeast Asia. The content featured includes original commentary by CFA charterholders on the latest investment trends and issues; sector analysis that teaches investors about the business model of a particular industry (adapted from CFA Institute research); case studies from the CFA Institute “Ethics in Practice” series – localised for the Singapore audience; and topical posts from CFA Institute blogs. This initiative has helped the Society to build its brand and profile (without paying for advertising), advocate on topical issues, amplify content from CFA Institute, and showcase international perspectives from CFA charterholders around the world.
CFA Society Spain: Certified Advisor, CAd
CFA Society Spain has launched the designation, Certified Advisor, CAd. The certificate enables CFA charterholders and candidates that have passed Level I of the CFA Program, together with a test of local regulations, to perform advisory functions in investment. Without the CAd certificate, CFA charterholders would not have been in compliance with the MiFID II regulations when they came into effect in Spain on 1 January 2018. The certificate has strengthened the relationship with the local regulator, increased brand awareness among employers and headhunters, and boosted membership.
Each of the winning CFA Societies presented its initiative and Society Leaders in the audience voted on the one they believe should be selected for further development. The initiative with the highest number of votes was CFA Society New York. Congratulations to the Society!
