Aiva is a large, Latin American wealth management firm, established 25 years ago, and headquartered in Uruguay. In line with the mission of CFA Society Uruguay to promote financial education and professional excellence, training and upskilling are at the firm’s core.
In recent years, Aiva has: -
- Adopted the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct. Aiva trains all its employees in this code by hosting a three hour training session and following up with refresher courses. The adoption of the code is listed on the firm’s website.
- Trained all its salesforce in the CFA Institute Investment Foundations Program. In order to encourage individuals to sit for the exam, the firm flew advisors from its regional offices to the headquarters and ran an eight hour training session.
Agustín Queirolo, Director of Aiva, said,
“At Aiva, we think that the way to achieve long-term success for financial advisers is through constant professionalization. One of the cornerstones of Aiva’s model is based upon upskilling – and we have created a Program for it: Aiva University. This year we decided to promote the preparation for the CFA Institute Investment Foundation exam – because of its relevance and because it suits very well to level our financial advisers which has a heterogeneous profile. We consider the CFA Institute as the gold standard of the industry and therefore launching preparation for the Investment Foundation exam with our advisers occurred naturally. We hope to continue working together with CFA Society Uruguay and CFA Institute to continue providing our contribution to the investment professionals of the future.”
In addition, the firm hosts an annual event where its regional advisors meet in Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo. Its 25th Anniversary event covered the best way to approach wealth management, the skills an investment professional requires, and CFA Institute Future of Finance topics, including the Investment Professional of the Future report. Barbara Mainzer, CFA, president, CFA Society Uruguay, said:
“We are seeing a trend towards professionalization in the Uruguayan investment Industry. The importance of high professional and ethical standards and the need for continuous professional development is being embraced by more and more companies.”
